DESCRIPTION

Medicare is now reviewing 250 of the latest reported files every quarter to determine whether responsible reporting entities are providing Medicare with the required elements on a timely basis. And if such mandatory components are not reported timely, Medicare is analyzing the late nature of such reporting and levying civil money penalties accordingly. The Panel, made up of Medicare Secondary Payer experts, will introduce non-group health plans Medicare secondary payer mandatory insurer reporting requirements and how civil money penalties apply. They will examine 5 workers compensation claim scenarios and discuss the possibilities for and probable amounts of civil money penalties for late reporting of ongoing responsibility for medical and total payment obligation to claimant.
